Witness Statement, Tim Gallaudet
Dr. Tim Gallaudet, a retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy and former Acting Under Secretary and Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, testified before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee on November 13, 2024, during the hearing titled "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth." Dr. Gallaudet recounted an incident from January 2015, when he was serving as the Commander of the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command. During a naval exercise off the U.S. East Coast, he received an urgent email reporting multiple near-midair collisions involving unidentified objects. The attached "Go Fast" video, captured by a Navy F/A-18 aircraft, showed an unidentified object exhibiting flight and structural characteristics unlike anything in the U.S. arsenal. The email was later deleted without explanation, and the incident was not discussed further, raising concerns about the lack of response to UAP-related safety risks. Dr. Gallaudet expressed concerns about the over-classification of UAP-related information, which he believes hinders transparency and the ability to address safety-of-flight issues effectively. He noted that even pressing safety concerns could be dismissed under the pretense of secrecy.
