Advanced Aerospace Weapon Systems Applications Program (AAWSAP)
The Advanced Aerospace Weapon Systems Applications Program (AAWSAP) was a classified U.S. government program closely related to the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). It was primarily focused on researching and developing advanced aerospace technologies, particularly those that could potentially be used as weapons systems. The program was part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s efforts to investigate technologies and phenomena that might pose a national security threat, including Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). The program was focused on researching non-traditional, advanced propulsion methods, advanced materials, and weapons systems, often linked to UAP sightings and incidents. AAWSAP was funded in part through the same $22 million budget that supported AATIP. The program was initially led by Dr. Hal Puthoff, a physicist with expertise in advanced technologies, who also played a role in AATIP. AAWSAP was quietly terminated in 2012, but its legacy continued through AATIP and other initiatives. While AAWSAP itself was relatively short-lived, it laid the groundwork for future U.S. government research into UAPs, exotic materials, and advanced weapon systems.
